Baker's Asthma
Date Posted : 27/04/2011 A lot of people don't even know that they can claim for Dermatitis and asthma - even if they have had the symptoms from a young age! It's simple, if a skin or breathing condition is made worse when at work - the likelyhood is that it's due to the working environment - breathing in fumes, using strong hand sanatizer or a poor ventilation system are just some examples of how asthma or skin conditions can be made worse. The employer has a duty of care to improve these situations and should follow strict health and safety guidelines. www.asthmaclaims.net View Post

pasta asthma
Date Posted : 18/02/2011 Ask yourself these questions: 1. Do you think you are suffering from asthma/a respiratory problem which may have been caused or worsened by work? 2. Have you worked at the company that you think has caused/worsened the condition in the last three years? 3. Have you had some symptoms in the last three years (even if they started earlier than this)? If you answer "yes" - then it's more than likely that you have a claim waiting to go... View Post

Genetic clue to asthma causes
Date : 18 Feb 2011

A “gene breakthrough could lead to new drugs for asthma”, according to the Daily Mail. The newspaper said the discovery of seven genes linked to asthma could lead to a cure for the condition within 10 years.

Genetic variations associated with asthma were discovered during a study that compared the DNA of 10,365 people with asthma and 16,110 people without the condition. The variants identified showed an association with childhood asthma and some were also associated with later-onset asthma.

Detergent exposure hard on workers' lungs: studies
Date : 05 Feb 2011

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - People who work in detergent factories are at increased risk of developing respiratory problems, including asthma, probably from exposure to chemicals contained in detergent, two new studies hint.

But a spokesman for the detergent industry argues that the findings from these studies don't apply to the US and European detergent industries at large. "Over the years, the detergent industry has developed successful product stewardship programs to promote the safe use of enzymes, using appropriate risk assessment and risk management strategies to avoid unacceptable risks in the workplace," Richard Sedlak, vice president of technical and internal affairs for The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA), said in a prepared statement.
